A little bit about Roberto…
Roberto Sosa values connection. As a founder and principal of OBRA Design Studio, he takes great pride in establishing strong connections with his clients and partners, with the history of each property and with the context around him.
Roberto earned his degree in Architecture in his native Caracas, Venezuela. There he worked to landmark the campus of the Universidad Central de Venezuela as a Unesco World Heritage Site, collaborating on exhibits and books that recognize its groundbreaking modern urban planning, and the deep integration of architecture and art.
He arrived in New York City to attend Pratt Institute in 1999, and soon joined a prestigious architectural firm, designing classical and modern residences. Followed by several extensive restorations of historic townhouses in Manhattan. Later as Studio Director at Aero Studios, he worked with Thomas O’Brien on influential residential, retail and industrial design projects. Subsequently, as Project Director for Ken Fulk Inc, he collaborated on renowned hospitality and residential concepts.
Roberto launched OBRA in 2015. He has since gained a loyal clientele by discovering and developing properties across the country. Whether it’s a historic farmhouse in New York’s Hudson Valley, a coastal estate in Santa Barbara, a traditional plantation cottage in Hawaii, or a simple farm-to-table restaurant in Harlem, he effortlessly combines the individuality of each client with a classically modern aesthetic.
Through design that is true to his personal philosophy - curated, straightforward and authentic - Roberto combines his reverence for history and his passion for modernity.
